Dynamic hotelier and restaurateur Loh Lik Peng was born in Dublin, Ireland, to Singaporean parents who were practicing medicine there at the time. He read law at the University of Sheffield, completed his postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics, and was called to the Bar in London before returning to Singapore in 1997. Upon his return, Peng began his career as a corporate litigator before leaving the legal profession to pursue his passion in hospitality.
Since then, Peng has established a portfolio of acclaimed hospitality and dining ventures across Singapore, Shanghai, London, and Sydney under the Unlisted Collection. A member of the Singapore Tourism Board’s Tourism Consultative Council, he was recognised with the New Tourism Entrepreneur Award in 2004 for his transformation of a humble shophouse into the iconic Hotel 1929. In 2011, he was again honoured with the Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Singapore Experience Awards. In 2016, the World Gourmet Summit presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his contributions to the food and beverage industry.
Peng has also played an active role in Singapore’s cultural and non-profit sectors. He served as Chairman of the Singapore Philatelic Museum (2012–2016), Director of Mercy Relief (2014–2017), and Chairman of the Asian Civilisations Museum, The Peranakan Museum, and the National Museum of Singapore from 2016 to 2021. He was also a board member of the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) from 2007 to 2018 and served as its First Vice President from 2017 to 2018.
Currently, Peng holds several key leadership roles. He serves as the Chairman of the Singapore Cruise Centre Pte Ltd (SCCPL), the Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (SHATEC), the School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), and the National Museum of Singapore. He also serves as Chairman of the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and sits on the boards of both the National Heritage Board (NHB) and SLA.
